Browsing for clutch parts for a Ranger, I came across LUK ,pronounced luke, They are a parts supplier to the new car industry. "1 out 4 cars comes off the line with a LUK clutch"
says their website. The parent company is Shlaffler (sic) and they are mucho global . The prices are 30% cheaper than Sachs or Beck Arnley. This makes me suspect Chinese manufacture. There was only a mention of office stuff for Shanghai. The job is a PITA, I dont wanna be doing it again. OTOH, the truck is gonna be a spare vehicle , 4wd stuff getter seeing occasional use by me. Due to tin worm and general Fordishness , I only want to try for 5yrs /30k miles of use. I am not looking for perfection, the truck is a rat. So, has anybody used a LUK clutch and how do you like it? TIA

I thought rangers came with that brand of clutch from the factory.

short answer yes. i have installed them in everything from a mustang to a 2 1/2 ton wrecker. if you are just doing daily driver duties with the truck you can get away with just getting an autozone or advance ext. kit

Luk clutches are OEM on the Rangers.

I am in the process of replacing my B2's original clutch after 120,000. The clutch itself isn't even bad, it was the slave.

Clutch disc says "LUK" right on it.

I have a 4.0 LUK in my '90 Ranger 2.9. Works pretty good. Don't recall off hand where it was made but I know it wasn't China. I'd remember something that awful.

I've seen Fords come with either a Motorcraft stamped clutch of a LUK stamped clutch. Both work just fine.

Autozone clutches come with a lifetime warranty, so if you're going to keep the truck forever I guess that would be a good investment... once you wear it out you can bring it back for another one.

Offhand I don't remember what brand I got for my F-150, just that I got it from Summit Racing because I needed it right away and they had it in stock and are only an hour and a half away from me. Plus it was reasonably priced and I got something intended for towing/hauling since it's my work truck.

LUK has/had a plant in Wooster, Ohio it was also the headquaters.
