AOD Trans btwn 302 & 1350 TC?

So I picked up this 4WD 83 Ranger with a 302HO and C5 for $700. It had some small issues when I got it but now it's running good. Rev's are a little high and I'm always looking for improvement in things I like so... I've got this AOD transmission that's from an 85 Crown Vic. So I'm wondering if I can remove the tail from this transmission and use the Advance Adapters part that connects the AOD to the 1350 and have stuff fit like it does now? Or do I need an AOD made for 4WD?

From everything I have read and seen, if you want to use the AOD, you have to get the correct adapter from advanced adapters to mate from AOD to BW1350, otherwise you will have to have a tranny and transfercase that were origanally together.
