I have a AOD from an 88 mustang that I am bought a kit from AA that came with a short output shaft and an adaptor housing to retain the stock transfer case. I took the tail housing off the AOD with the hopes that I could remove the output shaft from the tranny. Is this possible or do I have to completely dissassemble the tranny to install the new output shaft? The directions that came with the kit are of no use at all. They simply state to "replace output shaft". I have attached a few pics for clarity. I really do not want dissassemble the tranny :annoyed: . Any ideas or thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes the trans needs to be completely dissassembled. The output shaft is one of the first parts to go in.
You need to buy a gasket and seal kit, and a good book on AODs. Otherwise find a tranny rebuiler that will do it reasonable. Shouldn't cost more than $200-$300 to get it done professionally.

ugh...I kind of figured as much. Thanks for the info.
