Anyone put a M50D R2 with 302 in a ranger


well this truck will see some moderate offroading, and and equal amount of street driving as well, i dont plan to beat the crap out of this truck. Just get me to the spots to mess around...

Totalled- isnt V8RangerBoy's tranny an m50dr1?? cuz he got it to work i dont know cuz its just says m5od, so im just assuming its the r1
 
thanks CopyKat.....i must have been half asleep or sumthin:idiot:...so when everyone mentions using an m5od on a 302 they are talkin about the r2 then, right?
 
Exactly, the R1 is for the V6 the R2 is for the V8s. Drop by a F-150 forum they will talk about the M5OD and they mean the R2, Ranger forums it means the R1.

either way, 300 hp and getting it hill climbs...not my first choice running 38 or bigger...
 
Deuche bag just tell him the R1 is the V6 mazda and the R2 is the V8 one.

The Ford V6 and V8 don't share the same bellhousing pattern like GM or Dodge :thefinger:

Not my first choice either. I've seen way too many of them scatter under bone stock fullsizes with 302s and 33 inch tires. Personally I'm not using manual transmissions after the ZF. For my high powered stuff it will be a C6 and mark my words, the AOD will be the next big trans in demand like how people go crazy about a 700R4.

i am doing a 302 swap in my 94 4x4 right now and wondering the same thing. i have the M50D-R1 trans which i now hear wont work. does anyone have an extra M50D-R2 they want to sell? trans dapt also sells mounts for the 302 swap into a ranger
