If you have i'd love to hear about your process and what you had to do the line things up and make them fit. I'm getting ready to put a 302 in my BII, and need a little help.

What transmission should i mate with it?

Can i keep my stock manual shift transfer case? Or do i need to upgrade to a more heavyduty one?

Do i need to change the rearend?

Can i keep the front twin beam 4x4 axle?

I can handle putting the engine in, it's the driveline i'm not sure about.

Any help is great help

v-8 BII

Carb'd 302

C-4 Auto trans

to keep the trans case, which is plenty strong for a 302, use the Advance Adapter.... adapter, bout $450 from them

Do yourself a favor and swap out the stock diffs and get the Dana 35/8.8 stuff from an explorer, pretty much a straight up swap

Make sure to check out the tech library here, lot's of good stuff.

Ranger - broncoII same thing except driveline length lots of information on rangers I have seen with 302 conversion

Even better then paying $450 for an adapter, find a C-5 Transmission from an 85-86 Auto ranger or BII from a junk yard,(About 200bucks.) Pull the tail shaft and bolt it up to your C-4....
Keep your crossmember/Transfercase and get the strength of a C-4. Also keeping your drivelines. Would trash the dana28/7.5 and grab a set of Explorer axles.(35/8.8 31spline.)
