Anyone downhill mountainbike?

Out here in WA. state you can ride BICYCLES on the INTERSTATE :shok: in rural areas so some brave souls ride from snoqualime pass (5000-7000 ft elv. I think) back towards Seattle at like 50 -70 mph! is that DOWNHILL ENOUGH!

Holy crap you'd have to be half mad to ride a bike on the interstate!!

I'd bike on the road to get from one town to another and have about 13453454 near death experiences because drivers just don't care about bikers.

Been there. I sometimes ride to work several coworkers do too. It's about a 20min ride. I take two county roads to get there and traffic sucks I try to stay between the white line and the shoulder but that doesn't always work out. Get a semi going by at 45-50 mph and they don't get over the wind will almost put ya in the ditch. Not to mention I'm carring a backpack with my uniform, steeltoes, towel, a bike lock. and I have my lunch box slung over my shoulder bouncing off my thigh as I pedal.

XC here, no downhill in NJ / DE :D

Glad to see there are more Mountain Bikers on here.

LOOKOUT - old guy weighing in. I worked at a bike shop fo 6.5 years before there was any such thing as suspension on a mountain bike. One good thing was that Cannondale would sell us anything at 1/2 retail price since we were dealers. My first MB had a ~14 inch bb and after I took off the big chainring, was (for the time) a great trials bike. My kayaking buddy and I would bomb downhill power line trails and stuff all the time until he hit a tree and separated his shoulder. My mountain bike now is a vintage (that's what we call ourselves) Gary Fisher that is pristine.

I was more into road bikes and collected tons and tons of old vintage Campy stuff. I sold a 50th anniversary gruppo to some lady off ebay for $5500 three years ago. Hmm, for pro bikes, my first was a Pinarello, then Olmo, then an Italian Masi with Renyolds tubing, Masi with Reynolds 753, big-fat Cannondale, some funky French aluminum framed thing I can't think of the name of, 1'st gen Trek carbon fiber etc. Too many bikes left - all of them are on tubulars. I've got probably 40 tires hanging in the basement.
