okay, im a ford guy all the way....back to about the 80's and 90's when it comes to hotrods.... the bowtie is killer. Dont get me wrong, i hate modern chevy, they break down way too much plus ford is well... built ford tough. But when we go back to the 60's and 70's and some 80's its all chevy power. The initial thought of the word hotrod brings up an image of some sort of chevy in my head. Im currently looking for a hotrod project (looking at an 86 cutlass with a 350 and tbo400 tranny). I just wanted to see how you guys felt on the topic of hotrods. If you have one post it up id love to see. (please no v8 swapped rangers. Ive seen plenty haha

OK here is a link to pics and video of my hot rod.

Take a look at my other albums. A road test in a GT40 and a few pics of a 500,000 Ferrari both owned by the same guy.

I had an old nova. Wasn't much, only a 6 cyl, but it sure was fun to drive. I still have it but I may have to let it go. The rear window broke and there is some pretty sever water damage now.

Well, I don't have a hot rod yet. But I have a close friend who has a 1971 olds cutlass fastback, olds 350 engine (a little hopped up), and glasspack dual exhaust coming out the rear, Intierior redone, engine chrome goodies. It's been sitting behind his dads pond for 4-5 years. I am trying to save up to buy it when I can, my friend said maybe 600-700 hundred for it, all it needs is a TH350 tranny, and carb(in his dads basement) as far as I know. If I get it, I'll post pics.

Sorry...but a hot rod in my mind does not at all describe any 60 or 70's cars, that was the muscle car era. Now I DO have one of those, my 72 mustang couple with a 302 HO in it. Its currently undergoing a full resto.

This is what defines hot rod

My future hot rat project (half rat rod half hot rod if it wasn't obvious enough)...

But I'd have to give the scout over to my dad and finish and possibly get rid of my ranger first....

I want it in my garage oh so bad :bawling:

Stupid having too many projects/vehicles already BS.

The general definition of a hot rod is a pre-1949 car.

I guess that could be a good definition, I group up with a "hot rod" being, a car that has a hopped up v8, is RWD, and usually carbed. For example, a good friend of mine had a 79' firebird, 455 olds or pontiac bored I think 0.030 over, had about 500 hp, and the beefed up TH350 still would break down, that car to me was a hot rod.

Not a real hot rod, not even a real rat rod, hardly even a real car, but this is my rat look project, and if I get board, I do something else to it. Its dirty now, we just had a freak ice storm a few days ago, there was about a half inch of ice all over it.

I'm know plenty of members on here have muscle cars, but I don't know how many actually have hot/rat/street rods.

Shoeboy, congratulations, that is the first pt I've seen that I don't want to light on fire. I like it.

heres one of my many projects...

There are hot rods, rat rods, customs, muscle cars, and street machines depending on year and what you do to it. I am building what I think is a street machine which is an 80 AMC Spirit that will be powered by a 401. I also have a 40 Nash which will be a hot rod or rat rod. And then I have 2 42-47 Chevy pickup cabs that I am trying to sell and if they don't sell, then I will build rat rods with them as well.

My project, a 1966 Chrysler 300 2dr hard top.

The 300 model had quite a racing history back in the 50's. 1966 was the first year for the famous 440. This one happens to be a TNT also, with 365hp/485ft lbs tq (dual snorkel and dual exhaust). First year for front disc brakes also. This car in particular has the most options I've seen in my research of them since picking it up several years ago. Have not even found another factory disc brake car yet. This car is said to be a "gentleman's race car."

There's a bunch more pictures of it here.
