Just wondering if any of my fellow Ranger enthusiasts are electricians, or were in the past. I'm trying to get into the trade and am currently enrolled at SUNY Delhi for Electrical Construction. So far I'm lovin the work. Any tips or pointers you could give on getting started with the trade?

if you can't unplug the batteries don't jam a metal stick around what ever you're working on.

J/k

I'm not an electrician but i am the head mechanic on the Electric Vehicle team at my school. I love working with electricity, but you do have to be careful, as long as you respect electricity and don't be stupid around it you should be fine. But hope you enjoy being an electrician

i am just starting a program for cirtificates and AAS degree in construction or/ residential electriction taking 17 credit hours this semister... so far the classes are ok... there real preachy and i havent learned much ontop of what i aleady know... im probably going to quit the program and continue with electrical engineering ( the electriction programs were just a sidetrack for extra money)

good luck with it though! its fun when you can get out and get your hands dirty, but the therotical stuff in my classes has been kinda dumbed down =[ making it less intresting maybe the program your looking into is better! best of luck!

Are you primarily electrical or are you trained in other fields? I was thinking about doing my second year at Delhi in HVAC instead of Electrical Controls if I can't get into the controls program. My program is AOS, so I can move it around as I please.
