I'm going to apologize in advance because there were a few threads I could have attached this to but I think it's worthy of its own conversation. This isn't some random nobody, this is Keith from L1 automotive, the guy who South Main Auto and Pine Hollow Ivan and other YouTubers go to for computer repairs.

I'll echo what he says : this isn't about politics because both US parties are clueless about any of this stuff. It's where we are.

Edit: I figure we have about a 10 year window to prepare ourselves for what's coming. Prepare = grab vehicles that a) can't be remotely disabled and b) can be kept running (and legal) with readily available parts and tools.

Computers are evil and the US' consumer protection laws fall short of the EU's. Its important to bother your local reps about implementing legislation that helps us before megacorps fully take over the government.

The ability to operate a vehicle on the road is also a revocable privilege. Between FBMP scroll sessions consider getting really good at bicycle riding.

I should have added that I'm all for diesel in a post apocalyptic world, and there are obvious advantages to that. But not many of us can make a diesel injector or a high pressure injection pump, but most of us could make a crappy carb out of pipe and sheet metal and a drill. YMMV.
