ok i just did a auto to manual trans swap on my 91 explorer I changed the ecm, trans wiring harnes, pedals hooked up the clutch multi switch but havent changed the column yet (I just pulled the pin on the shifter & put the covers from the manual column on it) I have the manual column but I have to drill out the key switch so I was going to wait to install it ok now back to my question I am having a 4 lo problem what it does is it goes into 4hi but when i try to put it in 4lo the light just flashes constantly just like it did with the auto when id forget to put it in neutral Ive checked the nss and even bypassed it so is it possible there is a posision sensor on the column that tells when its in neutral or is the one in the trans the only one ive done everything i can think of except the actual column im at a loss.

First comes simplicity...is the tranny in neutral, with both the clutch and brake pedals fully depressed?

yes both pedals are pushed and trans in n. its driving me crazy because i know its got to be something simple and stupid .

Did you install the clutch pedal sensor, sometimes referred to as the neutral safety switch? I believe you have to wire it in manually...

yes the multiswich on the clutch master is hooked up the clutch has to be pressed in to start the engine the nss on the trans is also hooked up.
