I was debating between the chevy leaf swap and the explorer leaf swap, im thinking im going to go with the expo swap, but had a couple final questions, ive been reading through the old posts about this, and saw one post (can't find it anymore) where the guy mixed the explorer and ranger leafs, alternating (ex. main explorer leaf, 2nd ranger leaf, 2nd explorer leaf, 3rd ranger leaf 3rd eplorer leaf...ect) also seen a few where people cut the main explorer leaf an used the pack with the main ranger leaf, or cut the ranger leaf and used the main explorer leaf and added the cut down main ranger leaf to the pack, what benafit does that have? Is it just acting as an AAL?
also, the amount of lift it gives, that depends on the springs themselves correct? how worn they are or how much use they got?

Adding leafs to an existing pack is the same as using a long AAL. I used the Ranger main under the Explorer main leaf and so my did a friend. Both trucks sit pretty level with 6" SJ soft-ride coils up front with the addition of Belltech 6400 shackles. He runs 33's on his 94 (you should able to as well since your wheelwells are also round), but my 31s rub since my 88 has dumb small wheel wells.:annoyed:

so with adding the expo leafs and the main ranger leaf you got 3-4" of lift with it?
if thats the case im probably going to have to remove my blocks and crank my torsion bars a bit, which i have no problem with. bigger is always better :)

I would keep the ranger main leaf and add the exploer leafs, if your shackes and hangers are rusty u dont really want to try and take out the spring bolts. Even without the rust it still makes it so much easier

If you are swapping in an Explorer 8.8 you need to relocate the spring perches to the top of the axle tubes no matter what springs you use, unless you want a 5-6" drop (3-4" with the Ex springs).

i already have an 8.8 so no need for a swap, my shackles have zero rust on them, thankfully, so it'll be no problem to get them off, i was at the wreckers today actually, but they wanted $50 to torch the springs off the shackles, since they were too rusted. no thanks. so im going back next week with a sawzall to 'git-r-dun' then probably swap them out in the next couple weeks, i was looking for an OHC while i was there too, 12 explorers, not one with an OHC, what a let down.

So with this setup... what is your total count in your leaf packs?

l assume you cut the eyes off the ranger main.... but did you use the exising leafs from the Ranger pack or the Explorer pack?

I have a 96 Explorer Sport 4X4 4.0 2 door. I am looking to buy a 97 4 DOOR for parts (complete truck no engine or tranny). Being its a 4 door and 1 year newer can i still swap the following: step up rails -rear wiper -windshield -seats (all) -rear glass -shocks springs -sway bars - ect.... what else I just want to make sure its worth buying. I dont want to buy it if i wont be able to use the stuff i could replace. Help me out. Thanks in advance.
