I just recently bought a bronco II and after I brought it home the 4x4 quit working. I didn't have a clue where to start till I found this forum, The trouble shooting guide at the top of the page is a godsend. I have went through it and discovered that my switch was bad. I bought a new one and still nothing! I get power to the motor for a second when you push the switch then nothing! Any ideas on what to check next?

did you do the check on the 4x4 control module with the little red light? also if it helps, i took my dash switch off and cleaned it and its been working perfectly ever since.

I've checked everything on the list except for this part of it, which I don't understand.:dntknw:

c. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 8 (yellow/white) and terminals 4 (violet), 5 (white), 6 (brown/white) and 7 (orange/white), respectively. Refer to the following chart for the appropriate ohmmeter readings in each transfer case position.

Pin 8 Y/W To: TRANSFER CASE MOTOR POSITION
2 High Edge 1 2H-4H Edge 2 4 High Edge 3 4H-4L Edge 4 4 Low

NOTE: Edge positions and Mid-Shift positions are valid motor codes that the module will respond to; however, any motor found in one of these positions should be replaced/torn apart and cleaned/inspected to prevent the overshooting of shift points.
SHORT is a "low" resistance reading on the ohmmeter (zero ohms).
OPEN is a "high" resistance reading on the ohmmeter (infinity).

I would clean the shift motor.

I already did that. I am not getting power down to the motor except for the first second you push the button
