American Muscle In South Africa.

I'm just wondering what the ranger over drive is on the np435 you said. I'm running the same trans as you but clueless as to what the over drive thing is.

It is from Advance Adapters. My nerves were shot, waited three months for its arrival from the States.

Pic below the most joy full day of the build when long awaited parcel from the States arrived.

Installing the overdrive.

Some slight modifications have to be made on the NP 435 input bearing housing.
Shortened mine on the lathe.

If it was a bolt on thing then I would be all over it.

But I think getting a zf5 would be cheaper and easier in the end since I don't heave access to a lathe or that kind of money.

I agree ZF5 is the ultimate but you don`t find them here. I would have opted for a NV 4500 if only I can lay my hands on one.

This is the down side of SA all decent spares have to be imported.

To make sure the engine fit I use an worn out 302 with no internals other than the crank as a dummy. Use the 4.0l mountings.

The dummy going in.

I got three words...

No expense spared.

I really want to get the over drive for the np435 but the $1500 usd price tag pushes me away (love the thought of a third stick to shift and 8 gear choices).

Will subscribe.

Fitted an alu radiator wit a Cyclone fan to keep things cool. Made use of a blower set up. Some small mods to fit the fan

My NP435 shifter mod. The gearlever pins and retainer where worn out.

Decided to do my own mod by replacing the pins with cap screws.

Turned the screw ends down on the lathe and threaded the housing.

Wow! That is bad ass! I'm thoroughly impressed. Subscribing!

With the Dana diff`s and 35`s the tires were 4" outside the fenders. By South African law tires are not allowed to be outside the fenders. To keep the cops calm I ordered a set of Bushwacker flares. The Ranger runs on Maxxis Bighorns 35 x 16 shot on a set of Mickey Thompson Classic 2`s.

A friend phoned me when I just started with the project asking if I do not know

about someone who was looking for a complete set of bumpers for a Nissan

Patrol 4x4. The price was a give away. Bought the set and thought I can make a

quick buck at the time.

Well it was mounted to the Ranger.

Narrowed the rear and made the front fit on the Ranger:D
