alittle confused

i just purchased an 83 ranger that had a conversion in it for dirt cheep, the guy i got it from said he, " thought it was a 302," however, i always thought a 302 had 5/8th plugs. when i popped one out it was a 13/16. any ideas what im actually working with here? im not the greatest at figuring this out on my own. also the intake is an "torker 289" if thats any help.

Sounds like you got a 4.6L in there.

Does the engine look super huge under the good? Like it's a DOHC?

Ford went to the 14mm shank plugs in 1975, 18mm before that. Small plugs 302ci, big plugs could be either 289 or 302. The "Torker 289" Edelbrock intake will fit either one.

Can you see a part number on the block that will tell you the year.

Block ID # is located on the right side around the starter.
