Alaska Road Trip

These pictures were taken in 1989 just north of Atigun Pass on the trans Alaska pipeline haul road. We used to have professional hunters protect the crews working on the pipeline from 1974 through 1977. Now that stretch of road is open to tourists, and it's still loaded with grizzly.

These pictures were taken 600 miles farther South where the pipeline ends at Valdez.

That's one of the islands I never got to visit while we lived there, but we still plan to. My youngest daughter and two grandkids still live in Fairbanks so we go up often. Being from there you can probably appreciate having a good boat.

Great pics......I remember the Alaska Earthquake....I was a little kid living in Louisiana....the water in the bayou behind our house started splashing...we didn't realize what was causing the problem....and the next day, adults couldn't believe that it may have been related to the Alaska earthquake!!!
