airbag light?

so are they bad, good to be on,
will it fail inspection with it on (new jersey)
will it fail the drivers liscince on road test(nj also)

im about to go and take my liscince test and the 2 easiest cars to do it in both have the airbag light on, no good
so does anyone know what it means that there on?

btw, its on a 97 wrangler , 2.5, 5 speed
and a 94? dodge caravan, 3.3v6 auto( id love to put the 4 cyl and 5 speed if i could find one)that would rock

I would pick the easiest one to work on and just remove the bulb from the warning light.
