Today I had my friend and I in my truck today and the airbag light started flashing. I don't have a manual so what does this mean? Should I have it checked out? And also I got a brand new steering column and the mechanic told me it would whine for about 5 hours of driving. Does this always happen?

Thanks in advance

Something is not right and its most likely linked to the new steering colum. They might have left something disconnected. Either way, flashing idiot lights are never good. A constant on light means a fault has been detected.

As for the whine. What kind of whine? One that comes from p/s pump or somewhere else.

i just put a new power steering pump in my truck and it whined, so i checked it, and my friend didnt fill it up enuf, after i filled it up enuf it quit whining hasnt whined since and its got 78 miles on it now

Okay, i'll have them check that out. And the noise sounds exactly like when a manual car backs up in reverse. It's pretty loud inside, but it seems softer outside

Check the p/s fluid level. Its almost normal for Fords p/s pumps to whine. But it should not be so loud that you can hear it constantly.

count the flashes on the light

Well, I checked the p/s fluid, and it almost seems too full. Could that cause a problem?

my air bag light will randomly start blinking but it always goes away about an hour later

The light flashes a code. I just did this on mine. It was flashing a 27 code which turned out to be the little light bulb was blown on the passenger airbag on/off box by the ashtray. I soldered a new light bulb on the circuit board and it fixed my flashing airbag light. Keep in mind, while the airbag light is on or flashing, your airbags are disabled and will not deploy in a crash.
