Ok so I have an air horn compressor from GROVER INDUSTRIES model# 1167 my question is do I have to fill the crankcase of the compressor up with oil? I tried contacting the company but they won't call me back, I see a fill plug but I'm not sure if oil is supposed to go in there, any help would be great

i dont think you have to fill it but just put a bit of 30W oil in there just enough to get the parts covered. at least thats what ive seen a few other people do.

the usual rule of thumb on small, splash lubricated cranks is to fill it to the bottom of the fill tube if the cap doesnt have a dipstick on it.

cool thanks wicked, any ideas on why the compressor wont give me more than maybe 10-15psi? ive checked the valves on top of the head and they are in good shape and laying flat so im not sure why it wont fill my little 1gal tank. oh and ive checked all the lines and fittings and there are no leaks

im not famillier with the type of compressor your using. what does it have for valves? reeds? is it engine driven? if so is the clutch engaging solidly? is the piston ringed? if so are the rings in good shape? hows the cylinder look?
