Aerostar 4X4

my dad had a concept like this once but we never went threw with it.

we used to take our 4x aerostar to pismo dunes and drive it around out there, it was stock with some really wide low profile tires on it bu it did amazingly well out there. with the nicec soft suspension it was able to make it up some pretty whooped out hills that some jeeps couldnt make up.. people couldnt believe it. :D

yeah, i think a different tranny is needed. like a 465.

I'm more of a 435 or T19 kind of guy. But I've got a C4 now. I've just got to find time to put it in. RB

I just sat here and read through the entire thread, all i have to say is.....
Awesome...Pure...Awesome!!!

You have a couple days with nothing to do? Thats like reading a book. LOL RB

advanced adaptors has a kit to put in the 700r4 and it should end up being the same length as the trans u have now so it should not need new driveshafts.

If I had room I'd just put a M50 in it but the gas tank limits my length and i have a doubler in it. RB

Never in my mind would I imagine I would see a 4x4 Aerostar. Just two words FUC*#NG SWEET!!!!

I just read through this whole thread instead of studying for my last 2 finals that are tomorrow. But I have to say :icon_surprised: this has to be one of my favorite builds i have seen on here. My only complaint is not enough action pics. Pic whore it up!

:yahoo: did i spy silver lake in thoes pictures? :yahoo:

Last summer I took the whole family to silver lake. 9 of us packed in her and the 4.0L looked at test hill and said "ya right!" It could make it but it was a struggle when loaded. Best thing was I was cruise'n along the west fence and came across this monster water hole with a whole slew of trucks parked along side it. I went along the edge and pulled up in front of the line of trucks and asked how deep it was. Everyone there acted like they couldn't hear me. I told the wife to "watch this" and turned around and went threw it. We had no doors that day and the water was up to our knee's. But we went right threw! It was a jaw dropper! RB

Did you look at my webshots page entitled wheeling BroncoStar? RB

I have decided to try and put an NP435 and 1356 in the van. I'm tired of farting around with RBV crap. The 435/1356 will have better gearing than my current C5 1350 doubler and will be near indestructible. So here goes. RB

I've got the first prototype adapter.

It needs some fine tuning yet.

My 1966 Bronco clutch disc is out of stock so i ordered a 78 Mustang disc and it will be in tomorrow.

I ordered my custom pilot bearing today also.

I'm thinking my Y pipe is going to need to be re-bent. There are more pic's of the prototype on my webshots page. RB
