Hello. I have a 1999 Ford Ranger V6 3.0 2wd XLT Ranger.

I replaced the lower control arm ball joints with factory ball joints. I now am looking to replace the other bushings and upper ball joints.

The question is FORD said that there are NO Motorcraft Upper Ball Joints only lower ones and upper ball joints REQUIRE a new control arm?

Does anyone here have any good advice on "What" bushings will actually fit the truck and if the upper ball joints can be replaced even with after-market and any recommendations?

I want to replace all Upper and Lower bushings and the upper ball joints but also have issues with what is "Compatible" after talking to FORD.

I am a Novice so anyone who can help me avoid any mistakes or have any experience with these items let me know. I appreciate any advice on the topic.

Thanks.

for your year the upper control arms do not have removable ball joints.
the ball joint is part of the arm.
the upper control arms come with the bushings installed.

you have coil springs up front, correct?.

side note: the 4x4 Rangers have replaceable ball joints in the upper arms, and no they can't
be interchanged.

Yes, 2wd front coil springs....Ok, so upper control arms do not have removable ball joints for this model at all. Thanks for confirming....I take it aftermarket only as Ford said the Control Arm itself was discontinued. I appreciate the help...

I got new upper and lower control arms from NAPA with the ball joints and zerk fittings already installed. A friend of mine and myself put them on in July 2018. So far so good.
