The name prerunner comes from trucks that drive the length of the race course ahead of time to make sure it is ready to race on. Atleast, thats what I have heard lol.

prerunner is a truck set up sim. to the race truck. with lux. like a/c and radio. the point of the truck is for the race driver and nav. to go out across the track to take notes of dips jumps and turns. the prerunner is usally 2wd. but not always. that is my understanding of a prerunner.
