adjusting tachometer

I've got a 92' ranger with a 2.3 in it. I've got a cluster with a factory tach from 91' ranger with a 4.0L v6 in it and the tach is from a 2.9L. How do I adjust the tach to run in a four banger

I'd be suprised if the tach was actually different.
