I am about to start an engine swap into my ranger. I want to up grade my steering from manual to power steering especially since I plan to install a larger motor. I have a 1984 ranger that came with a 4 cyl. from the factory but the previous owner installed a 2.8 v6. That motor is shot. I have available to me a 1989 Bronco II, 2.9, auto, 2WD, w/ power steering, a/c. I plan to use the motor and transmission from the Bronco. I would like to know if any one knowes if the power steering gear box from the Bronco work in the Ranger? Also I plan to use the fuel tank from the Bronco. Can any one tell me if the tank swap a simple bolt on or not? I haven't gotten the Bronco yet but it just waiting on me. please, I can use any help that is out there.

the steering box is a direct bolt-on.

But the steering linkage will also need to be changed.

Power and manual are different 2wd and 4x4 are also different.

On the Gas tank?
On a Long box ranger with a 3" body lift (or a 2" body lift with
some deck support surgery) you CAN make the bronco2 tank fit.

You will have some filler hose routing issues, but with a propane torch,
acid core plumbing solder, a piece of galvanized steel and some COPPER
pop rivets that can also be corrected

Thanks for the info. A body lift is not what I was expecting but I guess I'm lucky it will even fit then. I will try to make it work because this is a very low budget project.
