Looking for advice on add-a-leafs from those who have used them. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't use them? Looking at James Duff's kit and wondering if I should use the add-a-leafs that come with the kit.

I do know that they restrict flex, but I'm not looking for flex... Mostly looking for a slight increase ride height and maybe a slighty stiffer spring to compensate for drop when the bed is loaded.

Any information is appreciated.

I once had some procomp add-a-leafs, but never installed them cause they were thick as hell and looked like they would ride like shit. Soo no first hand experience. I pesonally would look into explorer leafs if you want alittle more load capacity with slight lift...

Short & thick AAL = BAAAAAD

Long & thin AAL (similar thickness as the rest of the leaves) = good.

^^^Like he said. I ran two AALs before I did the SAS and swapped in chevy leafs. Both were slightly thicker then the main leaf and I liked the ride. It rode stiff, but having larger sidewall tires helped as well. My first AAL gave me 2"s of lift, I added another 2 years later but even with a mean arc in it, it only gave me another inch or so.

For $35 I purchased a set of 1500# helper springs from JC Whitney. Easy to install and to adjust. Not really an "add a leaf" but it took the sag out and raised my ass end by 2 inches. Couldn't justify a set of airbags but a set of air shocks for $60 would have been a good choice, also.

it will ride stiffer but by the sounds of what you are doing the add a leaf will be what you want.

the duff add a leaves aren't very long and fatigue pretty fast.and don't give much lift

but it will still flex almost as good and the ride isen't too much worse.

get some new leaves(sploder or other)

I was thinking of just going with a set of new superlift/skyjacker leafs. That way I'd eliminate the need for a block, etc. But at around $350-400 new, add a leafs sounded a little better. I do feel however that if I were to get new leaves, I'd actually get new.

I just wanted to get the scoop on them to make an informed decision.
