ACTUAL MPG Thread

2009 Sport standard cab, 2.3L, manual trans, fiberglass cap. I tracked mileage for about 9000 miles last spring and got 25.7mpg in mostly highway driving. That was often 75mph, including a 3900 mile road trip most of the way across the country pushing 80mph in western states. best single tank was 29.4, worst was 22.5.

Yes. Some people don't like to do though. I believe Ford made it kick on with the defrost to keep the system oiled, etc.

and the Floor and vent the A/C cycles on all the ranger and the E250 i drive

im going to try it, hell ive got a warranty for the next 4 years if it craps out, i know its covered

When I did the 4.0 swap on my b2 I bypassed this. The same wiring is the reason your a/c doesn't work at an idle.. At a stoplight in the summer and the compressor will kick off while idling... Idk how I bypassed it.. But I did.. Lol

2006 sport 4x4, 4.0 sohc, auto trans. stock wheels/tires. K&N short ram warm air intake, stock exhaust... average 16-18mpg with mixed city and highway driving... (i never use my a.c., i have windows... lol)

I should have mentioned that. This has been the case on all eight of the Ford's I have owned so far.

About 17-19 as a mix of highway and city here. I've never gone through a full tank on all highway yet but I'd be curious.

I might be getting even better mileage since I haven't changed speedo gears with the bigger tires yet.

2003 EDGE 2wd 124,000 miles
3.0 plugs and wires changed EST. around 60k
4.10 open rear end
Auto trans
31x10.5/15
I mostly drive interstate with it drove from Iowa to California round trip in June and averaged 24.6 MPH with cruise control set at 65 most of the way that was going over the Rockies on the way there and taking the southern desert route on the way back

In mid november I averaged 22.3MPG on my trip to ga

City I EST my MPG At about 14-16mpg summer and 10-14 winter but I really don't do alot of city driving mostly rural country roads around here

1994 ranger 3.0l, 24,xxx miles, 2wd, 5spd, manual, 3.73 gears, 30x9.50 on 15x8 soft 8s wrapped with A/Ts, 2.25" coil spacers and belltech 6400s.

mods inlcude dual batteries, 130 amp alt, e- fan, 180* T-stat (soon changing to 195*) k&n drop in filter, accel ignition (cap, rotor, wires, coil), gutted cat with flowmaster 60 series, homemade front and rear bumpers + spare tire carrier, roll/ light bar, about 250lbs of tools/ recovery equipment, and my trusty snow scaper.

in the summer ive seen anywhere from 15.7 - 17.9 and in the winter 11.2 - 16.7. i really need to get a set of 4.10 gears and change my t-stat back to the designed temp before i think i will see any increases in mpg.

mine a '93 ranger supercab. 130,000 miles, 4x4 4.0 o.h.v. with manual trans, 3.73 gears, stock 235-15 tires and accesorries such as a grill guard, cap, receiver hitch and step bars, took it to the farm scales and it weighs in at 4,300 pounds. best milage ever was 19.5, combined is usually about 17. 15 in town. winter milage i dont even check, between fuel formulation, longer engine warm up time, cold gear oil and increased resistance when driving through snow, winter milage isnt a good indicator of anything, id guess 12-15. oddly enough, my other vehicle which is 1,000 pounds heavier, has more motor and taller gearing gets better milage, and its a g.m. a '97 S-10 blazer with 175,000 miles, 4.3, 4speed auto, 3.45 gears and 5,120 pounds. gets 23 highway, same tire size as the ranger, about the same combined and in-town milage. does do better in the winter, but my ranger gets mostly in-town miles during the winter months. both trucks drop to 10-12 pulling the 6 x 10 box trailer. something about the o.h.c. engines gives them better fuel economy, on the downside, they dont have quite the low-end that the o.h.v. engine have.

2003 reg. cab, 2wd, 2.3l 5spd. 235/75r15's. 23 city/27 hwy, and I don't worry about trying to drive efficiently.

2007 Suzuki GSX-R600, K&N air filter, 32 city/39 hwy. Much better mileage and much more fun!

Thats some shitty gas mileage for a bike
