In preparation for some extensive AC work on my '87 B2, I bought an o-ring joint disassembly tool from AutoZone. It looks like you just clamp the tool around the line and push it in towards the spring.

But, I cannot find any "reassembly tools" . . . Is there such a thing? If so, can someone provide a link? And, does anyone know of a link, site, images and/or instructions on how to disassemble and assemble FORD o-ring AC line joints. Thanks.

none needed just push it back together after installing the correct type of new o-ring.its recommended that you lube it with a little refrigerant oil before it goes back together.also each new part has a spec for how many cc's of ac oil should be poured into it before installing.make sure you seal all open parts not getting replaced so moisture doesn't get in while its apart.all data has the specs maybe you can get the info from a local shop

^ that's right. They're "spring-lock" couplings. The removal tool displaces a circular spring allowing the coupling to be disconnected. To reassemble, make sure couplings are clean, install and lube the o-ring (with the refrigerant oil you're using) and just push the couplings together until they lock. Pretty cool setup.

Just make sure you push them ALL the way on, or it will make a big leak (it's easier to screw that up than you might think).

These are exactly the same fittings as used on the fuel line connectors/

Thanks guys.

The easy way to make sure you have them on is to install the safety clips, generally if the clips go on the fitting is correctly assembled.

the OTHER way is to look at the open side of the fitting and see
if the spring moves freely, as it will with a properly assembled
connection UNTIL there is pressure in the system.
