Recently swapped out my entire dashboard. Since then my AC doesn't seem to get cold enough. I believe max AC relies on vacuum. When I reinstalled my dash there were two vacuum line connections on the passenger bottom right.
-one connected to a barb
-one that I believe connected to the bottom of a silver canister

I'm not 100% on the 2nd line bc I didn't see it before I got the dash pulled out (it self disconnected), but that silver canister is about the only logical place it could go.

I checked and didn't see any leaks (I replaced the entire AC system about 2 months ago). Tossed my gauges on and added just a touch of refrigerant, the gauges say I should be good. Compressor cycles on and runs normally.

Low side line is very cold as expected and high side line is hot as expected.

I feel like I routed the cables back into place like they were from the factory when I reinstalled the dashboard, but now I'm wondering if the blend door isn't getting closed and that is allowing warm air to interfere with the AC.

I was reading some articles here and saw mention of an adjustment for the cable. How would one go about adjusting this cable?

I guess I could pull the glove box and see if I can get a view of the door as well.

Any other ideas would be appreciated!

To adjust the cables, you usually find the spot were the sheath of the cable is clamped down, and loosen the clamp and move the sheath back and forth, this will adjust it. Then clamp it back down.

So in other words, slide the lever till the door is supposed to be shut, then loosen the cable clamp and slide it back and forth till it is shut, then clamp it back in place.

Thank you! I guess when i reinstalled the dash i didn't notice one way or another how much of the cable went before or after the clamp there. I pulled the cable out of the clamp, shut the door all the way with and started the truck. AC is nice and cold again. Pushed the cable back into the clamp to lock it in.

There may be too much wiggle in my temp adjuster on my dash control. Not planning on moving it from blue to red until sometime in October so that's a future me problem. Looks like Ford went to electronic controls in 95, so I doubt i will find any 30+ year old HVAC dash controls in much better shape then mine in terms of connectors and such.

might just grab one from the boneyard next time i see one and see if i can figure out a better repair in the future.
