ABS light on. But test does not work

ABS Light on but test does not work

Ok ... on the 1994 Ranger, the test wire (black and orange) is under the dash. On the drivers side. Look up under the dash where the wire bundle comes in through the firewall. The wire your looking for is a single black and orange wire that has an in-line plug. Mine was plugged together and the wire coming out was a red one. Disconnect the plug, run a jumper wire from the BLACK AND ORANGE wire to ground. Do this with the key in the ON position. The light will then start blinking.
Good luck!

the test conector is behind the parking brake ;-) it was problem nr 12 low fluied on abs braking or somthing like this i will change the sensor under my fluiedcontainer.... weired that the conector was there any other instructions on the web told me somewhere else...

Tomkyle, I have a 92 Ranger and the RABS light blinks all the time. On/off, on/off. I tried to do the test but the light wouldn't blink.

With your work I know know that there is a float in the fuid reservior. I didn't know that.

Thanks, maybe your problem will solve mine.

hey tbirdsps,
blinks all the time:shok: isn't that totally annoying? ever brought it to a ford shop? if i would not have been able to solvethe problem i propably would have taken the lightbulp out. I know that is the worse thing to do aso .... giving up... but who really needs ABS only on the rear brakes???

I'm too stubborn to let anyone else fix it. It's not all that important to me but I'd like to at least solve it without spending $$$$ on parts. The problem will go away easier with a little black electrical tape on the dash.:icon_rofl:

Tom,

Thanks for your post - I have a '94 2WD Ranger that currently has BOTH the red brake warning light and the orange ABS warning light on all the time. The brake system recently had a leak in one of the lines and neither light came on despite the fact that the master cylinder was considerably low on fluid. After the leak was repaired and the system was bled and refilled, both lights came on (first the ABS and then a few days later the red brake warning light) I'm going to check the sensor in the master cylinder now.

Tom,

I was able to get BOTH the red brake warning light and the orange ABS warning light to go off. the problem was a loose sensor connector on the RABS electro-hydraulic valve in the driver's side frame rail (in front of the fuel filter).

Hope this helps
