Never come across this and I hope someone can help...

My truck (96 ranger STX) just started to make a grinding noise from the front. After crawling around underneath I found that the ABS gear sensor thing is showing wear. What could be making contact with it that would cause it grind?

Brakes are good, bolts are tight, ball joints are less than 6 months old.

Thank you in advance.

the sensor itself. is abs light on? check your hub locking nuts and wheel bearings.

If the wheel bearing is loose, the tone ring can make contact with the sensor.

Thanks guy, it is the wheel bearings.
