My 97 Ranger has ABS. I want to upgrade to an Explorer rear axle. Do all the Explorer rear axles have ABS? I want to retain my ABS on the Ranger and need an axle with the plug on top. Thanks

yes all explorer axles have abs. you wont have any trouble hooking up the sensor.

Good, now I gotta figure out if I wan drums or disc. Drums would make an easyier install as I could keep my stock brake booster.

I installed an 8.8 with disk brakes on my 1994 Ranger. You would not need to change the booster anyway, you would change the master cylinder. But they are the same part number for both disk and drum. I personally did not notice any difference in braking, however its much less hassle to change pads than shoes.

Your saying the master is the same no matter if you have drums or disc?

If your truck has ABS then the master will work just fine for the disc set up, its the NON abs trucks that need to swap master cylinders.
