ABS/Ebrake light comming on

I have a 2004 4.0 ranger 51k miles. Ill be driving and both lights will come on and stay on till I turn the truck off . The brakes feel a little bit squishy but will actually feel firmer when the lights come on. any ideas?

Yea, thats a pretty good indication that the fluid is low, which either means you have a leak or are needing brakes.

Very similar issue on my '93. Ended up being the rear brakes. The adjuster wheel didn't work, so the brakes didn't adjust anymore. Replaced the wheel, problem went away.

When the fluid is low, it means something needs to be checked. Good luck.

It could be a problem with the ABS system and the computer has recgonized. As a safty measure it will disable the ABS and work your brakes normly. They do this to keep your ABS from coming on suddenly.

My breaks have a squeal like around the pedal, and when i press them the pedal feels like , and eventually the abs and e brake light comes on and when it does actually the breaks feel good and work good when the lights are on. btw the fluid level is right where it should be

I've just dealt w/identical problem AFTER replacing ALL pads,rear shoes,and wheel cylinders.Read flash codes and it pointed to excessive dump valve accuation/abs valve (160$).....I took the dash apart and removed the bulb-I don't need abs and don't want lights coming on/truck stops fine/all the brakes work.

the sound they pedal makes is the most annoying thing of all, and the breaks work damn good when the abs/ebrake lights come on. where is that ABS valve located on the truck ?
