My ABS and my parking brake/brake lights have been on for a long time now. They both lit up on night after having to slam my brakes on the highway. I figured it was just dust on the sensor. The next day the lights were off and everything was fine. About a month later, they came back on. They've been on since. I had it checked and it says the front ABS sensor is out...... The thing is, there is no front ABS. The guys said its a shorted wire.

It may not seem like a big deal, but the lights are REALLY annoying, especially at night. Bright Red and Bright Yellow! I don't want to take the bulbs out, considering the possibility of an actual problem arising. IS there any other options for me at this point, or do i have to live with the lights on?

Check the fluid level in the brake reservoir (add if req'd).

My '92 Ranger had both lights on when I bought it. When both the red brake and yellow ABS lights are on simultaneously, that means that there is a problem with the ABS solenoid. The ABS has been deactivated at that point. If you perform an ABS test (http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0d/c4/99/0900823d800dc499/repairInfoPages.htm) you can confirm the error code to see if the solenoid is your problem. I had checked all of my wires/ connections and performed a resistance test on the rear ABS sensor in the differential, so I was certain it was the solenoid. $105 (+core) and about an hour later (because I bled all of the stanky old brake fluid out), I had fully-functional ABS again.

Well i had the ABS system diagnosed and the system said it was the front drivers side sensor. The mechanic that ran the test it was just a short, how likely is that?

probably not very likely. if this mechanic is so sure, as him where the short is.

He actually said it's some where between the light in the dash and the ABS solenoid. I'm just going to take it to a Brake shop and have them diagnose it. If the day ends in a Y i'll have a new problem....
