i dont know if this has already been posted, but is it possible to switch an a4ld to a 4r44e in a 1994 3.0

Not exactly sure, but I think the 4r44e is computer controlled. You'd have to swap the control unit in with the tranny too. But yes it will physically bolt into place.

if i could find the controll unit would it be worth it or would it be better to just drop a stick in it

It would probably be easier to swap in a manual, but if you want an automatic, I say go for it and post lots of pics! 5 speed swaps are a little overdone imo.

4r44e is just a computer controlled a4ld. The computer keeps you from doing stupid thing that would result in a failure but, otherwise the trans is not stronger.
