Does anyone know if a '88 A4LD will work in a '90 model vehicle without changing a computer?

depends what engine are we talking about? if you want one for a 93 3.0 4wd i have one pm me. still in the trk. i will warn you in advance a 3.0 will not work on 2.8, 2.9 and 4.0 but those trannys interchange, if i had one of those id look for one for a 4.0 as they were beefed up.

I'm not looking for a trans. Just want to know if a '88 A4LD will work in a '90 model year. Both are 2.9 BIIS. I know the '88 motor would not run right in the '90 I put it in with the '90s puter. Had to put the '88 puter into the '90 BII. Is the trans dependant on the '88 puter in any way shape or form?

Eh i think it would work....but honestly, the A4LD is the worst automatic trans ever made, hands down, they last awhile right from the factory, then the overdrive gives out, then seals burst, then the trans just goes kapoot...lol i kno i had one, it died pretty quick, an i babied it

should work i dont believe there are any electrically controlled valves on it, i think its all done by vaccum power. im with Z3CHYD, toss that turd and go manual or prepare to do this again.

Yes. Just make sure the shift linkage is the same.
