the A4LD in my 86 ranger shift shaft seal leaks. I took the kickdown cable off and took the nut off and the bracket for the kick down. Now i tried to remove the shift link lever and i tried pullin out wards but it is stuck. so i tried it in every gear position, still no luck. Am i doing something wrong? what is the trick to getting this thing off with out breaking anything, so i can replace the seal?

There is a nut on the inner end of the shaft that holds it to the internal linkage. So ya gotta drop the pan and take that nut off. It's a tight area to try to move a wrench around in, so be careful that you don't bend anything in there. It's a 22mm (7/8) if I remember right.

Thanks a bunch!! I am going in after it here sometime in the next couple weeks! Thanks again!
