I'm looking for someone that knows, for the exact application, the band adjustment for an A4LD. The application is for a '94 4x4 Explorer with of course a 4.0L motor. I looked all over the internet and could get no two pieces of info to say the same thing. I see a lot of, "back out 2 turns" but then the info is for the 2.3L, 2.9L, & 3.0L apps. I even saw a tranny rebuild manual that said, "except for the 4.0L...". I know '94 was the last year for the A4LD and has some updates over previous years. The 4.0L application is supposed to be different from the other power plants. This transmission is being transplanted into a '92 STX Ranger 4X4 supercab. I just thought a band adjustment would be nice to do. I didn't know it was going to be this hard to figure out...at least for me. Thanks.

I'll have to hit this from home later, but there is a setting, and then back it off 2 turns. I'll look at my book when I get home.

Tighten the band to 10ft-lbs, back it off 2 turns. Now it gets fun. HOLD the adjusting screw, and tighten the locknut to35-45 ft-lbs... Both bands.
