You either get a bulletproof one, or a smoldering heap of garbage, and it's completely random.Say what you will about those dumb things but I wish my '97 with 7.3 towed like my buddies '02 duramax with a mild tune, straight pipe but otherwise stock with like 250k... and that's not even one of the "good" years... then again I have another friend with an '09 with 90k on it and it just lost a wrist pin clip as a piston cracked down the middle...
Im not a LS guy but my buddies 02 2500 with a 6.0 has been a rock solid truck. Pushing 300k and its never really given him issue. You either get a bulletproof one, or a smoldering heap of garbage, and it's completely random.
I've owned a pile of GMCs at this point. I did like my 2013 duramax - was ridiculously good truck for the first three years, then the bed started falling off in 2017.
Currently have a 4.8 and a 6.0... both are mid af fleet vehicles.
My 4.0sohc is close to 300k miles as well. Those are clearly known for their reliability and low maintenance requirements.Im not a LS guy but my buddies 02 2500 with a 6.0 has been a rock solid truck. Pushing 300k and its never really given him issue.
Mine is second transmission, second diff, exhaust manifolds falling off, valley pan rotted through, no rockers, no cab corners, and needs leaf springs. Mileage is unknown - dash just says ODOMETER ERROR.Im not a LS guy but my buddies 02 2500 with a 6.0 has been a rock solid truck. Pushing 300k and its never really given him issue.

With enough persistence anything is possible.
