A tad pissed at Jegs...

Screw being polite. Just because his truck isn't toast doesn't mean it couldn't have been.
Sue them for all their stuff, then give me some stuff because it was my idea to sue them for their stuff! :headbang:

i attemped to say that out loud and it turned me into a babbling fool:icon_rofl: i love speech impedments sometimes:icon_twisted:

and to the OP: be nice an if it dont work then: :stirthepot:

Jegs did the EXACT same thing to me! They stuffed my order slip in one of my cherrybombs! I was inspecting everything and found it in there. Maybe they do it as a cruel joke to those who don't inspect everything.

So I guess its a good thing I DIDN'T go for that kit then... I just went to my local shop, but even THAT was messed up. I asked for 2.5" from the cat back and a Flomaster 40 (since that's the sound I liked most on Youtube) and he left the stock 2" between my flowmaster and the 2.5" outlet on the cat! So some WTF's later, he fixed it for free, but he seemed to be having a rough morning and was willing to accomodate, and I'm very satisfied with the sound. Between the larger/louder exhaust note, and the intake, it sounds different enough most people dont think it's just a 3.0.

So I called Jegs, a very nice lady named Patty helped me. She said that they ship it in the manufacturer's box and my invoice should have been on the outside (which it was not) she said they'd send a new one out for me and also gave me the manufacturer's phone number and my proof of order number for when I call them. My best guess would be that some of the paper they stuffed in the box for shipping got in there. So I called the mfr and they insisted that the only paper in the box was the instruction sheet (which I did find) and also insisted that what had happened was the tooling oil from when they bend the pipes is what caught and that it's not a hazardous fire. I don't know a lot about pipe benders but I'm pretty sure they work from the OUTSIDE meaning any smoke would've been coming off the surface, not the end of the pipe. I'm also pretty sure that most oil burns black and does not smell like burning wood.

Since these weren't things I'm positive about I just hung up...and will be buying parts made by someone else from now-on. No wonder they need a $75 rebate just to sell their systems.

I'm definitely going back to Jegs though. Very nice people answering the phones there.

Jeeze, take it like a man and move on!

A piece of paper in a exhaust pipe has your life obsessed, did you recive a free Jeg's ball cap, and stickers?(they usually slip them in) Just for that, Jeg's is a great place to shop, got three ball caps, and large JEG'S stickers.

Move on, and you should had checked there to begin with.:thefinger:

well i just got my system on, and took it for a spin. i got the same burning wood/paper smell even though i very thoroughly checked for any paperwork before i installed it. what i think it was is that the sticker on the exhaust was burning off, i had also wondered if it was any oil/corrosion protection on the pipe. as for your invoice, when you order there is a check box to mark that includes a paper invoice. my guess is that you didnt check the box. i agree with oilpatch (wow!) just relax. its not that big of a deal is it?

btw, it kinda seems like dynomax is getting a bad rap for something they didnt do... i'm pleased with my kit. i wouldnt have bought it if i didnt have the rebate, but im very happy with what ive got for the price i payed. all the bends are nice and clean (mandrel bent, not crush bent) and it all fit well. my only gripe is that i had to get a short piece of pipe to go in front of the muffler cause my stock muffler was longer than the one the kit came with. that same short piece also had a hanger, so i had to have a hanger welded on as well.

Who knows, it could have been some funky kind of oil, grease or some other protective coating to keep the exhaust system from rusting from the inside out while sitting on the shelf.

That wasn't very nice.

Very possible. I'm by no means an expert in oils or pipe bending which is why I just let it go. Life goes on, I'm happy with the product aside from the incident. *Shrug* I suppose next time I had better shove a fish tape through the pipes before I install them since shining a flash light and looking down the pipe 'til the first bend wasn't good enough.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

It was a shade over $160 and they have a $75 rebate 'til the end of the month.
