A fix for water spotted glass/mirrors

Another thing about over spray.....none of my friends who are custom painters will ever use a razorblade on over spray..they use mineral spirits and other cleaning supplies that also cleans glass as well.

I guess your custom painter friend uses Krylon, as mineral spirits won't even begin to touch catalyzed urethane paint.

Good point, Bro!!! You are correct about the newspaper. It works better then most paper towels. I only use Bounty towels for cleaning mirrors and auto glass. Bounty is one product that will not scratch prescription glasses. I did know about it until one of our friends who is an optician told us about it years ago. He said that he tells his patients that if they can't find something to clean off their glasses and they need to clean them keep bounty around the house or in their cars. Wet the set of glasses and wipe them dry with Bounty. Bounty does not contain any wood fiber like almost every paper towel product does. Who would have thunk that??

I am so sorry.

Back to topic. When it comes to clean glass, I have got a OCD for that. I could spend a hour just for the inside of the windshield. And if I missed just one smudge or streak, I may go back and clean the windshield again. I find turning on the defroster on cold helps keep some moisture on the windshield till I wipe it dry streak free.

Don't even get me started on fingerprints on computer monitors. :annoyed:

Why did you put that extra period.... oh, nevermind thats just a dirt spec on my screen. :D

My friends use all types of paints and they never had to worry about cleaning up after using any catalyzed urethane paint. they say it is no problem to clean since they clean as they go...so this the trick to being a great painter.

Haaa haa. I am like that too. I clean that windshield inside and out and then see that one smudge that I missed on the inside and it drives me crazy!!!!

I use a micro-fiber towel for smudges and fingerprints. It works awesome.

Thanks for the info scott01....when I still lived in California my mother-in-law turned the sprinklers on when the sun was shining and water spotted the 07 Impala we had...most of the car as well as most of the glass had spots...and the windshield was new,I tried everything to get them off. :(

Word. Fine steel wool and some glass cleaner or some other kind of liquid works great for cleaning glass. 000 or 0000 steel wool is what I use to clean over spray off at the shop I work for.
