A different take on a diesel Ranger...


I can think of very few scenarios you wouldn't be better off with a 7.3 those are just fantastic all around motors, in my opinion.
 
no, the mercedes td's are not "bullet proof".

I suggest you Wiki the 300td engine before you buy any vehicle with one.

there are as I recall THREE different engines and one of them is absolute junk.

I was more or less talking specifically about the OM617, which is considered by many to be the best of the 80s Merecedes diesels. And "bulletproof" probably wasn't the best choice of words, what I was trying to say is that they run reliably for a long, long time.
 
i can think of one scenario, but its not really specific to the 7.3, that is any time the weather hits single digits or less. this is my first winter owning a diesel and its making me wish i never bought it. if i had a garage to park it in every night it'd be a different story.

i have one, and i use antigel in my fuel, and i cycle my glow plugs. single digits still gell up the fuel and plug the filter
