Spent several hours washing truck today. Did the bi-annual engine wash.

A clean 3.0 is a happy 3.0, I always say.

my engine doens't seem to get that clean ever. whats your secret?? haha

Good wash with engine degreaser and maybe some simple green or similar stuff. Dry it off. I use a leaf blower. Spray it down with tire foam and let it sit then wipe everything down with a rag.

That is a handsom engine bay thats for sure. Im laid off now so I have time maybe I will clean mine up nice. Did you move your TPS on that side by flipping the TB over or did it come like that? Mine is a 00 3.0 and the tps is buried on the other side I have to take the TB off to get to it.

how much do you take off the engine? like what parts and such? and what parts are critical to protect from the chemicals and water? i tried degreasing my engine once and painstakingly covered everything i figured shouldn't get wet with plastic, and some water or degreaser got into my alternator and caused it to fail, it really sucked. so now, i'm gun-shy about doing it again. my entire engine bay IS FILTHY though, i really want to get it lookin' nice.

I rubber band some plastic over the oil and tranny dipsticks and power steering pump res cap. Cover the alternator and then go to town. The real secret is to use good degreasers and a good brush. Wheel cleaning brush works great.

I do remove the belt and make sure to solvent wipe ( Iso Alcohol ) all the pulleys before putting the belt back on. The tire foam will make the belt squeal.

As for the TPS, thats the stock location on my 2003.

VERY nice job! Kind of inspiring... not today though, too busy... :not_i: The problem is it would take ME 5 hours to get there, and then another 4 hours ADMIRING it, waving the neighbors over to admire it, etc.. LOL.

Unfortunately, there is virtually no one who can be paid (and trusted) with the job... OTOH I don't hang out at performance shops... perhaps for enough $$, someone half-competent WILL do it, and will GUARANTY no damage.
