I am trying to find material to make the gaskets that mount the interior and under hood A/C boxes to the firewall. The stock ones are coming apart. 1989 Ranger XLT. I tried normal weatherstripping from Lowes but I don’t like the way it looks want something more permanent since O have to take the dash put to replace it.

That self stick foam weatherstripping is what I've always seen people use to replace it. Unfortunately those trucks are old enough that you aren't likely to find OEM replacement parts, if they were even available separately from the box itself.

Only alternative I can think of would be to use a bead of RTV or Silicone around the lip of the box and install wet. Maybe something like The Right Stuff, I think it is suppose to fill a larger gap than a lot of other gasket makers.

I would go with the foam seal with the adhesive also. Your local hardware store will several widths and thicknesses available to choose from.
