My 1999 ranger turn signals quit working. Fuse is good, I want to check the flasher.

My almost-never-useful Chiltons has a wonderful pic of a pre-99 fuse box where the flasher location is obvious and right in the fuse box. My 99 however, doesn't seem to have a flasher plugged into the fusebox that I can access by opening the drivers side door. Where the heck is the flasher relay located at?

Thanks for your help!

Chiltons are generic manuals. That pictures is probably an 84....lol The flasher is under the dash just to the left of the steering column.

Well, I've been under there snooping around.
I take it I'm not looking for one of those old aluminum canister thingies am I?
Is it a black plastic thing?
I must be blind. I just can't see this thing.
Is it mounted to one of those metal rails with a push-in fastener? how many wires go to it?
I'm going to pull off the plastic piece below my steering wheel tomorrow, maybe it'll jump out at me like a snake then, lol.

Mine was under the column, it was blue and had 5 wires going to it, get a Hanes manual. Can anyone tell me where the horn relay is on an 06?

Ok. Well, mine was yellow, pressed in with 2 of those push-in plastic faseners to a metal rail. Unfortunately my $14 experiment didn't do squat to fix the turn signals. good fuse, good flasher. Well, if I was 16 again I'd have time to spend all night chasing it with a ohm meter ... but ... I just don't have time; time to pay $$$. How the heck something like that just up and quits is beyond me; although once I had an animal chew up a wiring harness so I guess anything is possible.
