Yeah but he wants to tow his trucks pretty far and a diesel will get better mileage vs a 460 or v10. Although they are much cheaper...
Gas trucks are cheaper overall to purchase and maintain... plus they burn a cheaper and easier to locate fuel. If you drive them a lot you might get a diesel to pencil out but on a newer one has a lot of expensive stuff to go wrong. Older ones will run forever but will get its tailgate handed to it by a newer gasser.
F-350's got a solid axle in '86, F-250's didn't until '99. 2wd still have the TIB.
