'98 Ranger fender flare question

omg o/t but i love that ford stripe. where did you get it? or did you make it?

Thanks, Bro. I made it years ago when I had my vinyl making machine. I made a bunch of decals for racers (cars and bikes). I sold a lot on EBay and around town. One day my machine broke and I never replaced it. It broke back in 2004. I had it since 1986 when I bought it new so it was a good machine. Sometimes I wish I had another one.

I don't have a Ranger with the fender flares, but I know one thing: if the vehicle is more than a year or two old, and has been kept outdoors all the time, you're going to have "tan lines" because the paint under the flares won't be faded with the rest of the truck. It might look goofy, but I guess you could just put them back on.

^^^what he said, Bro!! That would look pretty bad.

Nope I mean on the outside of the Fender like so.... Fender and box side will have holes on the outside

Oh, man that is pure stink on a stick...lol I see what you mean. Some of the flares came this way like the pocket style flares? I saw cutout flares that had the holes in the fender like this. Mine just screw in under the fender well.

Those aren't the flares that came with it are they? Cuz the ones that I have are like molded together and if you take off just the mudflap you can see the paint under it and it looks bad.

Your truck is so sweet by the way I love it. Ya and how did you that stripe?

Thanks, Bro. I made the the stripe many years ago whan I had a the machine to do so.
When I bought my truck new in July 99 there was a box in the back of the cab. I asked the salesman what was in the box and he said it was the fender flares and they will install them when the truck was getting prepped and cleaned up for me while I wanted to take it home after I bought it. The box had Ford Accessories on it. It was a tan box with the part number and the Ford logo in it. As far as I know (from many people here on this site) they are the Bushwacker extend-a-flare and Ford must have done some business with Bushwacker for awhile. I found some really neat stuff at my dealership back then. I found some really neat all Ford parts spare tire mounts for the BII's, Ford prerunner bumpers all new in a box one day and I bought a few of the items. I just happened to see a few pallets that were all shrink wrapped and ready to go somewhere and noticed the bumper and spare tire carriers near the top. One of the parts people pulled the boxes out of the pallet and I bought 4 items at a really cheap crazy price...$175.
Look at this neat prerunner bumper I bought NIB. It fits Ranger and BII's:

All of the fender flares 98 and newer are attached that way, not sire why but they are lol

Hey Casper98, sorry to go off topic, but is that your truck on the homepage? I went to your page but you don't have any pics of it and I can't really tell from your avatar.

No. I hung it on the wall in my garage for a few years (garage wall art) and last summer I sold it to a guy with a nice looking 87 BII. It just looked like it wold be a bit too short for my taste when I put it up near the truck as in this photo below. Several of my buddies said it looked great, mount it up. I really liked it and I should have gone ahead and just bolted it on up and used it. The brackets mounted right up with my stock brackets and I would not have to modify it in any way!!! But...NO!!! I changed my mind and I still regret it today, Bro.

I am going to have to start looking at Rangers with flares now that you posted that photo. I never noticed that before on any of the 98-2000 Rangers.

Damn. Damn Damn Damn. How are the 96 flares attached? I want to paint mine and I surely don't want to mess with the holes and hangers on the fender.

fill em with stainless rivots
