My credo
Hey ya'll, watch this
Recently bought a 98 F150 pickup from an angry child. Hated the truck ( was a gift from one of my friends) so he beat the dash into several pieces. Body and interior are salvageable but dash needs to be replaced. Am a mechanic and have tools but dont like jumping in blind. Anyone done this?

Google replacing the heater core or AC condenser, dash has to come out for either.

Never had to do either on my 02 so aside from popping off the bezel around the radio I really don't have anything to add.

We did a heater core in my buddys 2000 about 10 years ago.

I dont remember specifics but i do remember youre in for a real treat.

It takes two guys less than a minute to install it as the truck runs down the assembly line. It’s your first time, so I figure it might take you twice as long. If you don’t have a second person helping, we’ll double that…. I expect you to have the dash out in 4 minutes.

Seriously, if you find the actual Ford procedure, you can usually have a dash pulled on these newer cars and trucks in about 30 minutes or less. They’re designed that the dash is assembled offsite and thrown in the body in one piece. The next couple of stations snap some trim panels in that have to be removed.
