Im going into my senior year for Mechanical Engineering. I am looking to lift my truck. I love the dixon lift but im looking to design something myself for a senior project. Plus the schools going to pay for it. So i was wondering if anyone had CAD drawings of the 98+ front suspension. I know i can get field measurements but it would save me some time. I do plan on doing Structural Analysis on everything and promise to share my build with everyone. Thanks for the help.

thanks

stan

Structural Analysis is best on Solidworks or Catia so one of those i hope

Well the licenses the school has right now is Pro engineer, AutoCAD, and ANSYS.
I hate to use Pro E I swear it was built by mac guys. But were working on a solidworks sponsorship for the BAJA TEAM. Anyway im probably going to do the analysis in ansys for now. Like i said its a senior project just trying to get resources now.

I use Pro/E, it's nice software but has its limitations. For a quick and dirty analysis, Mechanica is fine, but most of what we do is more indepth. I like ANSYS....

I do not care much for CosmoWorks.

I've never used ANSYS.

IMHO on the design, Catia/Solidworks is the best for 3-D. AutoCAD is great for 2-D prior to 2002 and I don't have much use for Pro-E.

I have only played with solidworks, we didn't cover it in school. Inventor is fun. I also used it for a year in the real world before I changed jobs, I enjoyed it.

3D Autocad is a joke, but for 2D it is pretty good. I use AutoCAD 2006 everyday only for 2D stuff.

The shop I'm at now uses KeyCreator/CadKey. It's okay I just wish I could have AutoCad again.

Sorry for the :threadjacked: closetheboarders, would like to see what you come up with.
