98 4x4 diffs

i know i could have searched for this, but where do i look to find the codes to find out which axle/front diff i have? I want to install lockers and need to make sure i'm lookin for the right part #. truck is a 98 4x4 3.0 ext cab five speed. currently has open diffs.

Well the rears is an 8.8, but how do i identify the front?

It's a Dana 35. They all are. It will have the same gear ratio as the rear, and it's a regular open axle (no limited slip or locker)

thank you. I assume there are variations in spline # and shaft diameter?

The rear will be 28 spline, the front will be 27 spline.
