make sure u do the battery thing with the speedo when u go to change the odo, i didnt and messed up the calibration on it. took me forever to get it calibrated right

no, it can be from any engine, the ECU sends a tach pulse.

I wasn't for sure, I know on my 88 Ranger, I tried to use one from a 88 2.9, and it was off, I had to go back and get one for a 2.3 and it work fine.
