97 Expedition Help! ASAP Please!

Well...ok....

I took it in to the trans shop wedsnday.

They dropped the trans on it today and called me and told me that a snap ring that holds the clutches in (i believe) came off. Then he said some bolts that hold something else in that are supposed to be torqued to spec were hardly finger tight. I dont know much about auto trannys...sorry guys.

Dustin

Typical E4OD...
My brother's E4OD from his F-250 is apart on the tranny bench in the garage right now, same symptoms, same problem. Just as most every other E4OD. Make sure you get all the updated parts, snap rings, seals, plantetaries, etc. I also highly recommend race clutches and a mild shift kit.

The E4OD is kinda rare in F-150's, I don't know if the Expy's are the same way or not.

Kinda sounds like someone rebuilt it that didn't know what they were doing...

I dont believe they use the E4OD in the Expy's, I thought it was either the 4r70w or the 4r100 transmissions for the Mod Motors.

The E4OD was "upgraded" into the 4R100 in '98. They are very similar and like the AODE/4R70W they sometimes still go by the same name.
